  Amazing.... I could not stop reading until I came to the end of this thread. I learned alot.

  I've been away from this cult for many years (more than 20) and am very grateful for that. I was never very active and was in it mostly to please my Mom who was very fanatical. My family is forever split in two. Five siblings, two in and three out. The two in decided they should start shunning the rest of us after the WT article of Sept 15, 1981(perhaps you recall that paticular issue). Although I don't know why. None of the rest of us were sinning unrepentantly. We just didn't want to be witnesses.

  So I'm searching for understanding. I guess I always will be.
  
  I am appalled at what I have read here tonight but I'm glad you talked about it. This forum it a great thing.

  Oppression of Women

  this is a bit lengthy, but is a very big issue with me, and that is the issue of women's rights.

  i do agree with women allowing their husbands to make a final decision, being on how women think with their hearts and men think with their heads, making choices often times more logical ones.

  but, the husband according to god is supposed to love his wife as his own flesh.

  A hard D**K has no concience? or maybe it was no brains...oh gosh, I think it was both!

  My opinion is: Marriage should be a partnership. Issues should be thoroughly discussed and then a decision should be mutually agreed on. Male and female come from the same place, are born in the same way. The male is the protector, hence the larger size and strength. The woman is the nurturer, hence the softness. They both bring thier own magic to the relationship.

  Am I happy at home? You bet your boots baby!

  Can you be DF'd for obesity?

  if jw's can be(or should i say are) df'd for smoking, why aren't people df'd for obesity.. it seems they say that you are violating your body and hurting it from smoking but i've never seen a person live over the age of 80 that was obese.

  just seems like being obese is worse than smoking.

  I'm sure they wouldn't be able to stand for that.

  What we weigh is your own personal business and no one elses. A person's health (as long as they don't have anything that could spread to the rest of us) is their business. I find usually you are what you come from. If you come from tall blond swedes you are usually tall and blond. If you come from short stout peasants (notice I didn't say any nationality)....well. Weight is also sometimes a complex mental issue.

  Whether one smokes or not is also a personal decision. I'm glad when I hear that someone has quit because I know its bad for you. But I would never critisize someone for what I did everyday for 20 years.

  The Borg has its nose in every aspect of their members lives in an effort to control them. Why not try to control their weight too.

  smoking, sex, drinking, drugs, etc.... the thing i couldn't, or wouldn't, see at the time was that i was acting selfishly.

  actually I find your accent kind of charming Miss Yadira.

  You have no choice but to let your little one do what she chooses to do. Just be there to pick up the pieces if necessary. She is on the receiving end of lots and lots of indoctrination. Just love her and whatever will be, will be.

  I wish I had a magic pill and you could slip it into her coffee.....

  I read your thread with such sadness. The loss of your children must be especially devistating. How could anyone justify doing this to someone else? But then, they have an expanation for everything they do don't they! And they have the unmitigated gall to call it the "truth"(pardon me while I go barf)...........................

  Go back if you must. Being a "Stepford Wife" appeals to some people I guess. As for me, I bless the day when I was cut off from all of that religion (?) by the borg side of my family. It happened 20 years ago when the article of Sept 15, 1981 came out and they all decided they couldn't speak to me any longer. Now that the time has gone by and I see what screwed up children (drug adiction, mental illness) they have produced and all the sadness they have had in their lives. Only the everyday drudgery of endless boring meetings and people slamming their doors in their faces I realize what a favor they did me! I thank them everyday. Who knows, if they had only applied a little of that "loving kindness" they so often talk about but don't use much, I might be one of them today "shudder" "shudder".......I do, however, wish you the best. We all have to dance to our own music.
